It is designed for independent restaurants, cafés, and retail shops already on Shopify or considering moving to it.
Do I need Shopify POS Pro to use Rest-O-Pi OS?
No — Shopify POS Pro is not required for the core Rest-O-Pi OS system. Online ordering, QR dine-in, auto kitchen printing, and the kitchen display all work on the standard Shopify plans. Shopify POS lite (included with std shopify plans) is used if you also want staff to take counter orders through a POS interface.
What happens if the internet goes down during service?
Rest-O-Pi OS is built local-first. The Raspberry Pi server runs on your restaurant's local network — so kitchen printing and the KDS display continue working even if the internet drops. Only new order webhooks from Shopify require internet; any orders already received will continue to process and print without interruption.
How quickly can Rest-O-Pi OS be set up in my restaurant?
For a restaurant already on Shopify, we can typically have the full system — online ordering, QR codes, kitchen printing, and KDS display — running within 7 to 10 business days.
